Introduction to International Bachelor Program in Informatics

Since its establishment in 1989, Yuan Ze University has enjoyed an outstanding international academic reputation. In 1995, it established the first college of informatics in Taiwan. In 2005, it was selected as one of the 12 most distinguished universities in Taiwan by the Ministry of Education. Additionally, Taiwan is a world leader in the information and communication industry. In recent years, the Taiwanese government has been very active in globalization, and consequentially Yuan Ze University lead the charge to offer a full English program. The International Bachelor Program was created within the college of Informatics (IBPI) in 2017. The IBPI program focuses primarily on the study of computer science. To enable cross field study, it also integrates courses in the departments of information management and information communication. Currently, we have students from over a dozen countries around the world. Students enjoy an immersive international learning environment that empowers them with global competitive edge.

About IBPI
Accelerated Undergraduate/Graduate Options

You can start a graduate program while you are studying as an undergraduate student. Up to 24 academic credits will be counted towards your masters program, resulting in a combined course completion of only 5 years. In this degree path, you will spend less time than if you completed each program separately. You are provided with a variety of choices such as the graduate programs of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Management, or Information Communication for your 5 year track. After being accepted to the five-year Bachelor/Master’s program, you may be eligible for significant scholarship packages. Please refer to the Global Affairs Office for details.

Scholarship and Part-time Job Opportunities

Yuan Ze University provides scholarships to recruit outstanding foreign students. Admitted college students will have 100% of tuition waived for the first semester. For each semester thereafter, as long as your grades are outstanding, tuition fees can be fully or partially waived. Students can also apply for part-time work on or off campus. Foreign students can choose to take the internship program arranged by the IBPI during their third year. This program is a minimum of 9 months with students working 3 days per week. Depending on the company, the students may be paid more than $500 USD per month. After graduation, foreign students can work in Taiwan and start their career development as long as they meet the government requirements. Typically, the annual salary for a recent graduate in Taiwan is more than $25,000 USD with software companies. Graduates looking for jobs in semiconductor manufacturing or IC Design companies can expect more than $30,000 USD.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the employment opportunities of IT graduates are expected grow by 10%, which will exceed other industries in 2024. IT majors are in high demand in industries such as manufacturing, commerce, transportation, sales, hospitals, government etc. This allows you to pursue your interests in a variety of fields. IBPI Graduates perform remarkably, and many of them continue their studies in the graduate and doctoral programs of top universities in Taiwan and aboard.
